FirstFridays journal :: the kids...

We met up at Michael Baessler's house in the village of Korntal-Muenchingen. This region was and still is the center of the Pietism movement in Germany (For more on this, check out here for more on the history of pietism, which influenced John Wesley to start the Methodist movement).

We finished up a series on "Inspiring Community" based out of Acts 2-4, which is about the kind of community the first followers of Jesus established, and how we can create that kind of community today...we had worship, broke into small groups to discuss the passages, regrouped and shared our thoughts, then prayed together and closed in another worship set...

I can't emphasize enough how engaged and hungry these guys are. We leaders have the privilege of seeing the fruit in the lives of these young people!

On Saturday morning, we had leadership community over breakfast. This time, we had only one leader with me, Tilman. We talked about the Bible Study he started at his school, and how he has already handed off leadership to the underclassmen because he knew he is finishing up this spring and wouldn't be around to lead it. I had a great time talking with him about the specific challenges and joys in his life as he finishes up high school. I really see God working in his heart and molding a young leader in Tilman. That is what the "First Saturday" slot is for - to invest even more into the hungry ones. Jesus himself called 12 disciples to himself. He then spent more time with Peter, James, and John - those who would lead his movement.

That is our hope....
