FirstFridays journal :: the hope...

Outside of Michael's house (where we met) is another small house that his family is renovating. I talked to Michael's dad and he told me that they are keeping the original stone foundation, the he believes was first laid somewhere in the 1400-1600s!
Not only is it amazing that this house could be 400 years older than the United States, but that the foundation is still firm enough to build on.
Jesus talked about foundations. He claimed that the wise build on foundation of solid rock, that is, hearing the words of Jesus and putting them into practice.
The Scriptures talk of Jesus as the "stone" which the builders rejected - that has now become the "cornerstone" for the work God is doing in our world.
OUR MISSION states that our ultimate goal is to develop the next generation of "Young Life, church, and ministry leaders for Christ." Through relationships, adventure and modeling and living life-to-the-full (John 10:10)as a way-of-life to these young leaders.
OUR HOPE is to build on no other cornerstone that Jesus. Our hope is that leaders like Tilman will develop a strong foundation to build upon in order to reach his fellow Germans. Our focus is to invest in the lives of tomorrow's leaders here in Germany. That is why we do FirstFridays, and that is why we do what we do!
Thanks for being a part of this! - Matt, Meghan, Jeremy, and Layla
