Apparently American youth aren't the only ones who are losing interest (if they ever had it) and faith in politics.
"German youths spurn establishment" is the title of this recent web article.

A new election in Germany in 2 days - and who cares? The Social Democrats have been in power for 12 years, and the current German Chancellor Schroeder is has been "the man" in Germany.

The more Conservative CDU/CSU rightly claims "they (social democrats) haven't done what they've promised" and as a friend of mine here in Munich says "that is the only political platform they have - pointing out the failure of their opponents." Sound familiar?

Still Angela Merkel, the CDU/CSU candidate has a good chance of ousting Schroeder and becoming the first-ever woman Chancellor - precisely because people are ready for a change. Who knows how it will play out...
