Jeremy's 1st Birthday!!

Jeremy Matthew turned 1 on January 14th!

We celebrated his birthday quietly as a family that Sunday. We went to church and then went to the Schwimmbad (indoor pool) in the afternoon. Jeremy loves the water and the baby pool and he's warming up to the long, curvy, partially covered slide that wraps around the kid's area... Matt and I race down it with him in tow, and so far he's been quite brave!!
After a wonderful and busy week attending the Young Life European Staff Conference, here, we hosted a party for the little man on Sunday, Jan 27th. We had a blast! We invited our staff friends from the area as well as some German friends for "kaffee und kuechen" (coffee & cake). Jeremy had a nice little bunch of friends there, his best-buddy Nicholas (blonde) was, of course present:) He toddled around, wripped thru his gifts, and definately "indulged" in his first piece of cake! One gift he especially loved was a "semi" truck/toddler bike!! (from our good friends, Brian & Juliane Porter) They got it so that Jeremy & Nicholas can start racing!
Matt and I had so much fun celebrating his Big Day. It was fun to decorate and have friends over and do it all together. Matt made a really cool slide-show of photos of Jeremy throughout the year that ran during the party. My part was the double-layer cake... there was quite a little fiasco, though! ... a broken oven, 2 cakes thrown away and the final cake made -successfully- at a friends house 30 minutes before the party!!! Ha*
In the end, it was a beautiful day and we were so thankful for the love Jeremy recieved and for the great people God has surrounded us with. You all were surely missed and wished you could be here! We send our love~ Matt & Meghan
